Siit-Palinpinon Mangrove Restoration

Mangrove Matters PH (MMPH) has led sustained mangrove conservation in Negros Oriental, with Siit, Siaton as a focal point. Central to these efforts is its partnership with the Siit–Palinpinon Mangrove Conservation Walk Association (SiPaMaCoWA), ensuring restoration remains community-driven.

Beginning in 2022 with a nursery management workshop, MMPH equipped communities with technical skills and resources. In 2023, creative fundraising supported nursery expansion and planting of over 1,000 seedlings, including endangered species. Continued collaboration in 2025 added 500 seedlings at the Mangrove Eco-Park, strengthened by volunteers. Most recently, in February 2026, MMPH and SiPaMaCoWA planted 750 seedlings sourced from the community nursery.

Together, these initiatives highlight how capacity building, resource mobilization, and strong partnerships foster lasting ecological outcomes and coastal resilience.
